Juniper is a Mediterranean shrub tree also known as cade (or Juniperus Oxycedrus). In the olden days, people used it for fumigations in order to cleanse the air and repel insects. Nowadays, it is sometimes sold as cupboard fragrance because of its subtly woody perfume and powerful moth-repelling properties.
Cade also possesses disinfecting, anti-allergic and healing properties which is why it is frequently found in many soaps and skincare products. In aromatherapy, Cade essential oil has energizing and cleansing properties.
In the Middle Ages, people believed that this sacred wood could repel witches, and a legend even said that whoever eats one juniper berry a day shall be spared from illness. We’ll let you exepriment this saying for yourself, depending on how adventurous you are feeling !
