Horn is natural and will dry with time, revealing a fibrous aspect.
But don't worry, you can avoid that simply by regularly oiling your knife handle, just like wood.
If you have a weather-worn knife, lightly sand it using extra-fine sand-paper (P400), before polishing it and then nourish it with oil such as flax.
Tip: to keep your horn handle as shiny as new, never leave your knife in water or expose it to high temperatures (>50°C). Clean your knife with a damp cloth rather than under running water and, of course, never put it in the dishwasher.

Sharp! As an edc, though, I'll specify carbon over stainless on my next laguiole. It's too pretty to use!
