Laguiole blades have gone through a grinding process, which is a sign of distinction, giving a perfect regular cut.
Polishing is done before and after assembling for better facades.
Horn is a natural material which could swell or split if put in a dish-washer.
Tarnished brass bolsters can be buffed up using any copper cleaning product.
The cow horns used to make the handle of these knives are softened through a boiling water bath. They are first cut into slice and then calibrated to the millimeter to fit the shape of the left and right plates of each knife.
This raw material is alive and the fabrication is made by hand. For this reason each blond horn, therefore each knife is slightly different. There may be more or less brown or white streaks on the handle.
