Ram horns generally bear ridges by which their years can be counted and are mostly dark in hue (black or very dark brown). Ram horn is very thick and solid. The corrugations are very marked, especially at the base. Colours vary: white, black, sometimes marbled with grey or brown.
Widely used to make knives since antiquity, it is sought after for its beauty as well as its durability.
Whether in legend or in ancestral tradition, though, they are also used whole.
